We are happy to announce that the winner of our Facebook Like and Share Contest is Jonathan Barber. From our random drawing of December likes, he won a pair of RayBan sunglasses. We wanted to take a moment to congratulate Jonathan and remind our readers of the benefits of wearing sunglasses.
Over 50% of Americans lose their sunglasses every year, and more than a quarter of Americans simply do not wear sunglasses at all. It is safe to say that many Americans do not understand the importance of wearing sunglasses on a daily basis. This extends to both adults and children.
As our optometrist in GA like to say, sunglasses are your first line of defense against UV rays, which can damage both the eyes and the skin of the face. Regularly wearing sunglasses can protect your eyes and sensitive undereye skin from UV rays, which can cause skin wrinkling and eye damage. Individuals with blue eyes are more at risk for damage than brown-eyed people because of the lightness of their eye color. However, our optometry professional thinks that it is best if everyone wears sunglasses - even your kids.
Since damage is cumulative, problems develop slowly over time. You may not notice anything until one day you experience difficulty seeing or eye sunburn. Or you may succumb to cancer of the eye; cataracts; or surfer's eye; a benign but irritating eye itch caused by UV exposure.
Sunglasses also protect your safety while driving or walking by reducing the glare of the sun. Without proper eye protection, you could put yourself and others at danger from improper road awareness.
If you need new sunglasses, come on out to Eye 1st Vision Center to browse our wide selection of high quality sunglasses. We welcome patients from Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, Marietta, Roswell, and Atlanta. And don't forget to Like us on Facebook, so that you can find out about our next promotion and enter for a chance to win!
What are your favorite pair of sunglasses? Did they happen to be RayBan's?
