Hard to Fit Contacts vs. Regular Contact Lenses

Hard to Fit Contacts vs. Regular Contact Lenses

Some patients that want contact lenses may fall into the "Hard to Fit" category. Contact lens wearers may find some contact lenses to be uncomfortable due to certain vision impairments and eye conditions. Sometimes an individual’s eye shape may make it hard to find a good fit with regular contacts.

Why Some Eyes Need Hard to Fit Contacts

Several conditions exist that may warrant a special fitting with hard to fit contacts following a contact lens exam with one of our optometrists. Our eye doctor in Sandy Springs is an expert at identifying conditions and knowing what specific products are the right match for your specific condition. You may be a candidate for hard to fit contacts if you have one or more of the following conditions:

  • Dry Eyes

  • Keratoconus

  • Astigmatism

  • Refractive surgery including Post-LASIK

  • Corneal Scarring

  • Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis (GPC)

  • Pellucid Marginal Degeneration

  • Presbyopia

How Our Optometrist Can Fit You with Comfortable Contact Lenses

During your first contact lens appointment, our optometrist will help find the best fit for you. Contact lens exams are different from comprehensive eye exams.  Finding the perfect pair of contacts may take some time.  With all of the different types of contact available today, finding the right pair will take some trial and error, but our optometrist can help steer you in the right direction.

Some options include extended wear, rigid gas permeable, and disposable soft contacts. Additional options include scleral contact lenses that cover the entire cornea, toric contact lenses that resist rotating on top of the cornea to provide consistent vision correction for astigmatism, and hybrid contact lenses for increased comfort while maintaining high levels of correction.

No Matter the Condition of Your Eyes, We Can Find the Right Contacts for You
